About the fair

3 – 6 July 2018
Bogotá, Colombia

VI meditech 2018 gathers the key stakeholders in the medical industry and outstands as the proper platform to generate qualified business contacts. Its aim is to boost the South American medical market and thus improve the country's healthcare sector. It has positioned itself as one of the most important business scenarios for the sector in Latin America, not only because it has the most complete commercial showcase of products and services related to the industry; but also, because it provides the ideal scenario in which individuals and representatives of the most important institutions in the sector, have the opportunity to update themselves by attending to The XIII International Congress of Hospitals and Clinics.

The Colombian market is promising: Political and economic conditions are stable. Strong investments are being made in the expansion of medical care and Colombia has the second highest population of all South American states after Brazil. The population is growing and it is getting older. These are already interesting drivers for the health industry. In addition, the local production of medical technology is limited and makes Colombia more dependent on imports. Colombia has excellent private hospitals and the country also wants to increase its support of medical tourism, prompting it to now import even more high-tech equipment.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) decides on, and supports, official participations in the Federal Republic of Germany's international trade fairs and exhibition programme. In addition to policy and budgetary issues, the active involvement in the presentation of Germany at international fairs and exhibitions is of prime importance. In a constant dialogue with private-sector partners, the division for international / national trade fairs and exhibitions of the ministry backs the export activities of German industry on international markets.

Furthermore, the "fairs and exhibitions division" is concerned with planning and implementing German participation in world expositions abroad and with major political issues regarding fairs and exhibitions in Germany.

The AUMA - Association of the German Trade Fair Industry represents the interests of the trade fair industry on a national and international level in dealings with parliament, ministries, authorities and other organisations.

The association organises the official German trade fair programme abroad in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture.

As part of this programme, the Federal Government provides financial assistance for German participations at foreign events, but also for independent presentations by German industry abroad.
